Caffè Vergnano invites skilled baristas from all over the world to showcase their coffee artistry in a thrilling international competition.

The contest aims to highlight and enhance barista skills through technical and sensory evaluations, emphasizing international standards set by Caffè Vergnano.

It provides participants with the opportunity to be evaluated by award-winning coffee experts and by the World Barista Champion 2018 & World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion 2022 Agnieszka Rojewska. She will conduct an exclusive masterclass for the finalists, sharing her secrets and expert techniques from the world of coffee.

The jury for the international final will consist of four judges: a member of the Vergnano family, a CCH Coffee Expert, and the two multi-award-winning champions, Fabio Dotti and Agnieszka Rojewska.

The contest format

The contest is organized in two stages: national competition and international finals. The winners of the national level, one from each chapter, will advance to the finals at the Accademia Vergnano in Chieri, Italy.

Rules

Accademia Vergnano

The international finals take place at the Accademia Vergnano in Chieri, Italy.

The Accademia Vergnano, once the historical family house where it all started, is now a beautiful and welcoming place, where baristas from all over the world can learn and master the art of espresso.

It is recognised as Italy’s SCA Premier Training Campus, featuring specialized academic courses and training programs designed to convey the all-round culture, secrets and professionalism required to master the art of espresso.

Contest
rules

Both national and international level feature technical and sensory evaluations, culminating in a comprehensive final assessment.

TECHNICAL JURY

The technical jury will consist of two judges. Each judge will assess each participant based on their skill in correctly preparing beverages and their individual style. Technical errors will be deducted from the total score. Each second of overtime beyond the provided minutes will be considered a penalty point.

SENSORY JURY

The sensory jury consists of two judges who operate independently and will be responsible for evaluating the beverages and the speech of each competitor.

EVALUATIONS

The results and ranking of the competitors will be determined by the sum of the sensory and technical evaluations.

BACKGROUND MUSIC

Each competitor can bring their own accompanying music to the competition and it must be delivered in accordance with the contest rules.
